Nwankwor, HyacinthReligious Freedom, the Bed-rock of National Unity in Nigeria
Cover-Download | Nigeria is a country with many ethnic nationalities, endowed with different cultures, traditions, languages, religions and histories. The political unity among these ethnic nationalities was merely imposed by the former British colonial government. The consequence of the enforced national unity today is constant inter-ethnic and inter-religious conflict. The researcher argues that Nigeria needs to implement religious freedom, and maintain the secular status of the country as declared in the constitution of the land, as a way of calming the tension in the country, and bringing the people together whose co-existence is severed by the religious dichotomy. |
